Lounea Palvelut Oy delivers services to the Soihtu apartments of the student union of the University of Jyväskylä
JYY (the student union of the University of Jyväskylä) and the domestic optical fiber company Lounea have agreed on the supply of optical fiber connections to the areas of Kortepohja student village, Soihtu Korttelikylä and Soihtu Vehkakuja. Lounea Valokuitu is a fixed internet connection that always works at the promised top speed and secures the building company's internet usage needs for decades to come.
The change will not cause additional costs for the residents and the online services will remain at least at the current level
Each housing association will have 1000M or 3000M of internet, depending on the current indoor network technology of the object, 1000M for ethernet targets and 3000M for fiber optic targets. The connection also includes cable TV service, which will be available later. The connection costs will continue to be included in the apartment rent.
The new fiber optic connections enable peak speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s to the apartments, and additional speeds and other additional services can be ordered by each resident at their own expense after connecting the fiber optic.

What do I need to know while the connections are being build?
During the project, fiber optic cables will be dug in the yard of several sites, which may cause temporary changes, for example, to the yard access routes. Pay attention to the signs regarding these when traveling in the area. Apartment-specific interior installations are carried out between December and January. For the installation of the fiber terminal, the installer needs access to the apartment. The owner of the apartment will be notified of the installer's visit well in advance.
What does Lounea offer JYY and what does the contract include?
Lounea supplies fixed fiber optic connections and ultra-fast broadband services to JYY's destinations. The broadband speed in the destinations is 1000M or 3000M depending on the destination's internal network technology. In addition, cable TV service is delivered to all locations, which will be available later.
Does the contract cause additional costs for residents?
Doesn't cause. Broadband service will continue to be included in the residents' rent.
Does the contract include a wireless wlan router for each apartment?
The resident of the apartment is responsible for purchasing the router themselves, if they want a wireless network in the apartment. Residents can use their own router or purchase a router directly from Lounea, for example.
Can I order a faster connection to my apartment or other additional services?
Yes you can. The resident can order apartment-specific additional speeds from Lounea and, among other things, entertainment and information security services, which will be billed to the resident separately.
